Are streamers right to ditch league of legends, is the game really getting worse? Or are they just tilted and need a break? that’s what we’re going to find out today, now before we get into this I would like you to know this is my opinion, if you disagree with something let me know in the comments below.

Right now, a lot of people feel like league of legends, the world’s biggest moba is dying because of recent events, I’m here to put your worry at ease because it’s not. But it Definitely seems like it in North america, due to things like the impact of battle royal games like Fortnite and PUBG, Content going downhill, and the massive negativity in the community from forums and popular streamers like HashinshinLoL, and Nightblue3, we’ll also discuss what riot games is doing wrong and what they’re are doing right, and how riot see’s the future for league of legends.

Impact of other games

First, let’s start off by talking about Fortnite and PUBG impacting the gaming community, recently they have exploded in popularity making them some of the top games to be watched on twitch.tv. Fortnite hit the 10 million player threshold in October 2017 in January, they reached 45 million players across all platforms. Fortnite reached its peak of concurrent users at 3.4 million players online, with all of this success and hype a lot of big streamers and content creators that are frustrated with league have been switching to these battle royal games especially Fortnite one example is Nightblue3 with around 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube and Twitch.tv.

Battle royale games are fun but its missing something league of legends has which is accomplishment, right now PUBG and Fortnite don't have the feeling of accomplishment that league of legends gives you, its really exciting because no game is alike with millions of different players, and over a hundred different champions, and weekly updates and giant yearly updates, also having a ranked system which isn't easy to climb feels great when you actualy climb, it means something, with Fortnite and PUBG every game honestly blends together it doesn't give you the same excitement that league gives you. don't get me wrong I like playing Fortnite because the graphics aren't dull and its a free game, its great for players to take a break from the competitiveness of games like league of legends but, it will never replace it.

Negativity in the community/Content shortage

Another big thing that's impacting league is also some of the negativity that gets popular on websites like Reddit, YouTube, and Twitch.tv popular examples of this are content creators like HashinshinLoL, Trm, and Nightblue3, why is there so much negativity? i think its because of two big reasons first being frustration and the second one being close minded, a lot of players are getting frustrated because games are too long and competitive, so games like Fortnite are more appealing because they can quit right when they die. also league of legends has changed into more of a team-based game over the years, not the 1v9 fiesta that it used to be in previous seasons. Players are being close minded because people don’t care to look at other perspectives, players don’t think about how hard riot is trying, how much their juggling, and don’t understand how much they’re taking riot for granted, riot on the other hand doesn’t see that they’re catering to much to Esports or bad players that don’t fully understand the game or have bad mentalities.

I’ve playing league for years now and being a gamer, there will always be negativity in giant communities, it isn’t all of riots fault it’s also the players.

Not to even mention that a lot of streamers/content creators get hate time from time, with people saying they don't deserve their rank and that there really bad and it can be hard to keep a good mentality with how hard the game is. all of this will suck any fun out of a game especially when you pair that with being a streamer or content creator, let me get this straight it is not easy. having to keep your Elo, put good content out, and still deal with all of that hate its really a full time job.lots of the negativity stems from how stressful league of legends is, its a complex competitive game, the problems for lower Elo players is that they want to climb without putting in a lot effort i mean who wouldn't, they want to be carried or go against easy opponents that they can smash then when they lose they find any way to blame everyone else which is a loser mentality, keeping them from improving, that’s why there’s so many players in gold or below. for high Elo players or streamers this isn't always the case some of them do have bad mentalities and most of them probably feel that they're trapped because they can only play meta champions with standard builds and a lot of the game outcomes can be determined in champ select

One of the few ways that i can see to make this better is to realize one thing, you truly did something millions of players can't do, take advantage of it at the end of the day its like owning your own business, you have a lot more freedom then what it might seem like. sometimes put yourself at ground level and really see what you have, just because its hard, if you quit i will guarantee it will be 1000 times harder to naturally get a opportunity like this and you will regret it. try to think outside of the box and have fun league of legends is a game.

League of Legends state as a game

About the game being more of a team based game, a popular quote going around is “one person can lose you the game but not win it Is something i don’t think is true at all you can still carry games and will always be able to its just in a different way, instead of getting super fed and getting a big item and level advantage then 1v5 the enemy team you have to help your team.

It could be getting objectives or doing extra in team fights or warding as and I truly believe that that’s how this game is supposed to be played, at its core, it’s a team game now that doesn’t mean I don’t think it would be fun sometimes to hard carry 1v5 but to balance a healthy game in the long run changes need to be made, for the most part riot games is really good about getting feedback, and are always open to improving, actually early today they released there plans to update ranked for 2019 in this they even say that being able to carry is something that they want and that they are working on they understand whats happening with their game. instead of saying how much they suck why don't you look at what they're doing right, remember it’s hard to make everyone happy especially when there’s so many players.

I don’t think league of legends will die for a long time, its a great spectator sport being that recently in the Chinese spring split (LPL) finals the total views reached 95 280 181 viewers which is a huge increase from the league world tournament finals that had around 75 561 716 viewers. not to mention its being ran by riot games a company that’s 100% dedicated to league of legends and just do so much for the game, in 2017 league of legends had 81 million monthly players north America only making around 10%– 15% of the player base, it’s a lot bigger in other areas of the world like Europe, south Korea, and china. To this day league of legends is the most played game of all time and is the biggest Esport game,is it hitting a rough patch? yes, but If you ask me this won’t stop it, it will continue growing bigger and better than ever before and I truly think the players and riot games are evolving and getting better, I cant wait to see what the future will hold for this game and the players.
